THE once bankrupt airline Isla Airways looks set to return again this month to the Canaries.
The judge handling the bankruptcy process has released about three million euros previously seized giving the company sufficient liquidity to resume most of its routes.
According to reports the airline is very close to finalising the formalities required by the Aviation Safety Agency to re-operate in the Canaries.
Sources suggest that its fleet of planes (six) will be once again be airborne this month, just six months after their activities were suspended in October 2012 due to serious economic problems.
The first steps to recovery began at the end of last year with a creditors meeting; now a judge has released funds and lifted embargoes.
Isla Airways plans to reinstate the island routes but as yet no schedule has been set.
