Hi!

I would like to start a new business in Tenerife.
In Hungary there is a special cake, called "kürtös kalács".
I would like to bake this in a mobile vendor. The smell of the cake will attract everybody to the car and I think nobody bake this cake on the Islands.

What do you think about this?
The biggest question is that how can I operate this car? Should I rent a small area from the council?

Thank you for your answers!
Lorand

WELCOME TO FORUM !
I think you would need a council licence and hygiene licence for starters - there are some mobile street vendors who sell food .
This link is your cake !

No, its empty, because it is hollow. The dough is rolled to a wooden brick than we bake it.
The outside is the most important: it is sprinkled with sugar, walnut, almond, coconut, nutella or other sweet things!

Hi

No I didn't buy them in Tenerife, we have a lovely Hungarian lady in our home town who has a traditional stall. We love the chimney cakes - especially cinnamon.

Somebody opened a 'chimney cake' shop near us last year. It went down the pan rapidly.

Where was that shop?

Near Playa Las Vistas beach. To be honest, the people who opened it were pretty clueless. The shop looked pretty bare and cheaply fitted. We thought it would have been a good idea if they had opened a proper coffee shop with the cakes being a focal point of the business, but they didn't even think about that, they just tried to sell these cakes and nothing else. They priced them at 3.50€ each, which was too expensive anyway. We worked out, that even at this price they would have to sell around 700 of these cakes a month at 3.50€ just to break even. They lasted less than a week and gave up.

Ahh, it's really sad.
I think coffe and other beverages is a must.
And the exterior is an other important think. If it is not pleasant, nobody will come in to buy something...

They couldn't sell 700 in a month? I think if everything is Ok, the minimum is a 80-90 cake per a day...
