Hi guys
I'm new to the forum but have enjoyed reading your posts and picking up some gd recommendations!! You all seem v friendly and v witty!!

We're coming out in 12 weeks time and can't wait!! I think the best bit is that your holiday starts as soon as you get here - you know what to expect and you can just relax straightaway!!

I was wondering what's the first thing you look forward to doing...

Hi and welcome to the Forum.
No problem making friends in Tenerife as everyone seems easy to chat to.....except perhaps the Guardia!
I love changing into light holiday clothes and setting off to a favourite bar for the first Dorada, G and T or Nestea.

Me too, being at the Airport is all part of the holiday, usually go about four hours before flight time and just relax and people watch.

We sometimes go up the night before if it is a very early flight and have an extra bit of luxury before we start the holiday proper!! Yes, like people watching too!

Going to the airport used to be part of the holiday experience and I used to love them and could not get there early enough but its changed days for me now. Now its something I have to endure to get to the sun and on the day I come home I wake up dreading the day ahead. Think I am turning into Victor Meldrew, must be something to do with age!!

I hate heights and somebody else up a ladder makes me feel ill but for some reason flying doesn't bother me, I love it ¡, it's getting to the Airport and getting to resort when I land that bothers me I am petrified on Motorways. The first thing I do when I arrive is make a brew and unpack, can't relax till everything is put away.

Best bit is sitting down for the first pint outside the Italian pizzaria in San Juan for me. It might be plastic chairs on the side of a busy road but there's nothing quite like it for relaxing!

Same here. I'd never be one of those rushing through the airport as the plane departs.

I'm no good with heights either and remember the first time I flew anywhere was to Ireland thinking if it's that bad, at least it's not far and I could get a ferry home! Now I love it and have been to the USA a couple of times and the time in the air flew by (no pun intended)

Not always, warbs! I have been in a jet going to Malta which got involved with some air pockets over the alps. Not a lot of fun when your stomach is left about three thousand feet above you!!!

The start of the holiday is when the plane takes off and the feeling of Yahoo Tenerife here we come. Then when we arrive and get to the hotel and sort our stuff out.
Put the shorts on, the flip flops, grab some of that funny money and head off to the Whiskey jar for a few cold beers..................fantastic.

As soon as we are through security and head for our traditional coffee I am on holiday.

Decent pre-allocated easyJet seats and hand luggage in the overhead and relax.

Then a G&T on the plane and watch a movie on the iPad, all the time the pleasure building.

Land, grab hand luggage and first off (or nearly so), through passports, walk past the baggage reclaim (all my holiday clothes are out there in our apartment already) and off to the bus stop.

And by now I am totally on holiday :)

I've got two girls aged 3 & 7 so entertaining on the plane can be a bit stressful! But once we're there and had our first day at the pool, lovely meal out and a few drinks, we get the girls in bed and have a few lovely relaxing drinks in the balcony and play cards or crib!! Bliss....

We always get to our apartment, unpack, then get back in the car again and off we go to Mercadona! We do a bit of shopping (not forgetting the beers), then get back to the apartment, shower and walk down the road to the Merry Monk for a few extra cold Doradas! We land in Tenerife at about 12.30pm, and we're in the Monk before 4pm usually!!!

When we get to Tenerife, the first job was unpacking and putting everything away. It worked up a thirst so afterwards we went off to the pool bar. Usually someone there we knew and it eased us into the time ahead.

Get into apartment, get the case emptied, wait for the on-line shopping to arrive, quick shower, then nice relaxing pint of Dorada in the Toby Jug and the Tudor Rose. And within 5 minutes of sitting down with that first pint all the stresses of UK life start to melt away.

The 'on-line' shop sounds good. Can you explain what I would have to do to get my shopping this way, thanks.

I just registered with the www.mercadona.es website (which you can translate into English if need be), and the rest is fairly similar to online shopping at home. Simply enter the address where you're staying in Tenerife, choose the goods , delivery day and time slot and enter your payment details. The delivery charge is 7:21 but well worth it considering we get all the heavy stuff delivered inc 18 8 litre bottles of water, loads of fruit juice and slabs of beer. Plus it saves you having to go round the supermarket, put in in the trolley, pay for it, put it all back in the trolley, take it to a taxi and then unload it when you get to your digs. They delivery guys insist on bringing everything in for you so you don't do any lifting yourself and even loads of flights of steps aren't enough to stop them from delivering to your door.

Even the ice cream and frozen food comes in freezer containers and the chilled food is in perfect condition too.

I think hyperdino also do deliveries but we haven't used them as yet.

I can't seem to start enjoying it until I know we've got a nice room! 2 years ago in Tenerife we got to the Parque Santiago III and got put in a studio, even though we'd booked a 1 bedroom apt. It took 2 days until we were moved to the 1 bedroom!
Then last year in Palma Nova we got to the hotel to be told they were fully booked and we've have to spend the first night in the 18/30 hotel next door!

I just want to get what we've paid for on arrival! If I knew that's what we'd get this year when we come over then I'd be in holiday mood right from arriving at Birmingham airport!!!
