The Tourist Information Offices Tenerife Infotén integrated network, last year received a total of 988,329 visitors. The Spanish,
with 288,072 users were the most prolific users of this service, ahead of British (238,389), Germans (211,103) and France (66,641). Cabildo Vice President and Tourism Minister, Carlos Alonso, claimed the important role of these offices, “since it is the main tool of communication with travellers”.
Alonso said that Tenerife Tourism “work continuously to raise quality standards in tourist attention as the first communication channel between the destination and the traveller”.
The most visited office in 2012 was in Puerto de la Cruz, with 163,743 visitors.
This was followed by the Arona-Las Vistas, with 73,571 visitors, La Laguna, with 63,299 visits,Santa Cruz, which dealt with 58,779 tourists, and Arona, Los Cristianos, which recorded 53,809 visitors.
The top information request refers to buses, then those related to leisure (attractions, boats, tours, etc.), with 51,017 requests. There were 42,189 requests of information about Teide alone.
Also issues such as beaches, cultural events and shipping. The network currently consists of 44 offices spread throughout the island, which serve nearly five million tourists that visit the island each year.
Ongoing objectives include improvement of the image and pedestrian signaling to the offices, plus the implementation of an extranet to facilitate faster access to tourist information.
