AN agreement between Adeje Town Hall and Microbank will make available as much as one million euros in loans for the small-business sector.
Adeje Mayor José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga and Microbank chief Alberto Lopez yesterday (Thursday) confirmed the deal in writing.
The contract terms will endeavour to establish credit facilities for small businesses and the self-employed, based in Adeje.
Initially, the agreement will end on 31st December 31, but if successful it could be extended.
A delighted Mayor Fraga said: “This tool will continue to help create jobs in the municipality, and will benefit the society by offering an alternative way for the business community to find finance.”
The two parties believe it will help generate self-employment and new small businesses, as well as promoting equal opportunities – and not just for men and women.
Also in the mix will be new residents, disabled people and those unlikely to get a loan elsewhere.
Plans are in hand to help consolidate small businesses and the self-employed as well, in the hope of creating fresh jobs,
Alberto Lopez said the loan conditions will include the submission of business plans for all the categories, whether self-employed, new businesses or established ones.
Adeje Council will then undertake a feasibility study and, once approval is given, sums of up to 25,000 euros - 95% of the investment – will be handed over.
Interest on the loan will be 8.25%, to be repaid in five years
