ONE week on and the acrid smell of the fire and the cause of the blaze that decimated a local disco bar in the resort of Playa Paraiso is still unknown.
The emergency services were called, by local residents, to a fire at 1.09 on the morning of Friday 27th April.
First on the scene were the Adeje Volunteer Bomberos attending what they originally thought to be a house fire; it transpired that the fire had begun in the disco bar below the houses backing onto waste ground.
Two houses and a number of cars were also damaged by the blaze which took four hours to bring under control by two crews.
15 fire-fighters from Adeje and San Miguel de Abona fought the blaze with three appliances; the ferocity of the blaze was made worse by the roof being clad with polystyrene.
Due to a shortage of water fire-fighters had to take water from the swimming pool of the near-by residential complex,MarinaPalace.
No one was injured as a result of the blaze.
