AS we go to print we’re receiving reports of a Ferrari 360 on fire in Armenime.
The fire may have been caused by a problem that was highlighted two years ago causing Ferrari to recall more than 1,200 super-cars worth more than £212million because of a design fault, specifically then on the 458 model, which can cause them to burst into flames.
The flaw was identified in the wheel arch on the rear of the car which is fitted with a special glue that’s unfortunately prone to melting. As a result the fault brings the lining of the wheel-arch into contact with the hot exhaust pipe causing both the lining and the adhesive to heat up and ignite – gutted, quite literally.
