We have had a few high electric bills recently which was a surprise as our apartment has only been used for 2 weeks in past 6 months. On further investigation it appears that we have been paying for another apartments electric since complex was built over 10 years ago. This was confirmed by telephone to Endesa although they need to visit complex to confirm. The funny thing is we are told there is only 100 points between the 2 apartments meter readings.
Checked and confirmed our meter with president and it is not the meter serial number that we are being billed for.
Is this common.

Not common at all, you'll need to be 100% correct or then Endesa come out to check/confirm you'll be charged for their time.

Would it be better to call in a electrician like yourself before involving Endesa to do a check?

Yes an electrician or the community if they are competent at confirming this.

Thanks for replies. We have checked by removing the fuse below the meter then confirming no power in apartment.
We gave Endesa the meter serial number by phone who confirmed it was not the meter serial number readings that was being debited from our Spanish bank account.
I know it is Spain and things work differently here so we will just have to wait and see.

Is your meter reading high?

Don't know what would be a high reading, but it is in the 015500 region.

Update: at last they have confirmed that we have been paying for another apartments electricity, they can only go back as far as the time smart metres were installed? They will pay us back our overpayment by reducing our monthly bills by a certain %, the other apartment owners are to get what they have underpaid taken from their bank account in 1 lump sum. As we have not been told what we have overpaid and not seen any bills reduced we can only hope it will start soon. I don't have a lot of confidence it will be repaid but our monthly bills should now be lower.

.

i think You should be able to reclaim the Lot after a few weeks.

Surely as it was not YOUR Mistake, the Least they can do is present You with an account dating from the Original Reading.

This is probably Their mistake surely.?

Thanks for updating,
Good Luck
