The contract has tobe in Spanish and is fraught with complications - be careful!
I suspect you will get plenty of advice on best way yo do it !

There is an example here -

Have a look here http://www.comunidadvecinos.com/modules.php?name=Sections&op=viewarticle&artid=2
- but ask yourself a question do you want to be able to enforce this contract or is it just for "show" (so the tenant can register at the Ayuntamiento etc) if it's the former then I would pay to have it drawn up by solicitor and witnessed by a notary -more expensive but maybe not so in the long run!

Are you saying that these agreements are not really worth the paper their written on? I am new to this "landlord" malarkey and am not 100% sure what my rights are once a tenant refuses to pay.

I´m not saying that ,just that, if you do some research into the issues with contracts - badly written ones can be a minefield - Goldenmaniac´s advice is worth considering especially here in Tenerife -a baseball bat doesn´t always solve a problem !
There is a reasonable article on Janet´s Blog that will explain some of the issues -fill yer boots !

Also, I seem to remember that it should not be written on ordinary paper, but 'official' paper (I can't remember what it is called). You can purchase this for 3 cents a sheet upstairs at the cash point in supermerdardo Carolina in Los Cristianos.

It has an embossed seal on it and the sheets are numbered.

That's interesting Mike - Vellum maybe?
My wife was "sold" a copy of an "Arrendamiendo de Temporada " from Snr. Escobedo via our President to use when our daughter used our apartment on holiday - no mention of Notarising or special paper - I was never convince d of it's legality but now it literally may not be worth the paper it's printed on ?
