Barceló Viajes tour operators are making Tenerife South their operational hub, located at Tenerife Sur airport. The Barceló Group already have a significant presence in the Islands through the hotel business and now Barceló Viajes will expand their operation here to Reina Sofia Airport.
Connectivity will strengthen through connection with 10 mainland airports.
Barceló Viajes unveiled its strategic plan for business development in Tenerife at a press conference this week.
At the press conference Tenerfie Tourism Minister, Carlos Alonso thanked the company for its commitment to the island that certainly “will boost economic growth and job generation which is what we need right now.”
In this sense, the Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Canary Islands, Ricardo Fernandez de la Puente stressed that increased air connectivity is needed at a time when national tourism needs help to recover.
Johan Tyren, Director of International Development Expansion emphasised the fact that “it is a key destination for Barceló Trips Canaries as we believe it has great potential in the domestic market and we are very grateful for the institutional support we have received. Barceló Group already have a significant presence in the Islands through the hotel business and now Barceló Viajes tour operator are active in the airline business.
A strong commitment that we believe will benefit in terms of increased flow of travellers but also in stimulating economic activity and job creation linked to tourism.”
Barceló Viajes will base their airline at the airport Tenerife Sur.From now on, one of the two planes of the airline, recently acquired by Barceló Viajes, will have their headquarters here
