Remember that the 30th May is a fiesta day throughout the whole of the Canaries to commemorate the anniversary of the first session of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, in the capital city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, held on the 30th May 1983, some ten months after publication of the Statute of Autonomy of the Canary Islands in the Official Gazette.
Many municipalities hold their celebratory party on the 29th May – Baile de Magos – with participants dressed in traditional attire. Some businesses may also take Friday as a holiday to give the long weekend
