Go to your nearest Garden Centre they all have them this time of year.

Yes nothing like having a little herb garden in one or two large pots. I just bought wild celery and basil up in Orotava the other day from a street display of flowers and herbs.

The wild celery isn't always so easy to find and I like to have it on hand when I can find it for putting in soups and stews.

It has a much stronger flavour than the large supermarket bundles of pale green celery.
Thyme, rosemary and Italian parsley all grow here very well and you will have a hard time keeping them from taking over the pots.

Here's the wild celery, also called apio here.

Another lovely herb is LOVAGE, if you can find the seeds at least. It smells like a ready made stew.

I'm sure you will find many places to buy potted fresh herbs without having to go from Sta. Cruz to La Orotava but if you fancy the trip there, I can show you where I bought my herbs.

The street display of plants is on the main road leading up to the city hall plaza, in front of a shop selling items of home decor, which is where you pay for the plants. (photo)

It's just below the Plaza with the bandstand where people congregate to sit or have a drink in front of the Liceo del Taoro. (bandstand photo)

Thanks for this great tip, I'll be popping over to the Tamaide area to clean up the house around July and will most certainly check out this Oratavo area for herbs and spices, will move over permanently around September. Looking forward to it, thanks again.

That took me by surprise seeing a posting from Canarybird , I really miss the pictures of her garden .
Wherever you are I hope you are surrounded by flowers and beauty .
