"El paro sube en Canarias en 17.200 personas y roza los 400.000 desempleado"
( ........touching 400,000) Taken from the newspaper La Provincia,
This does not include all the foreigners and others who do not sign on but are still out of work.

Hello,
My family is lving in Tenerife since 2004. Job situation is terrible! even if you speak Spanish it is almost impossible to find a job.
Schools are free if you choose a "public" school otherwise a private will be expensive, check British school in Puerto de la Cruz " La casita azul".
All best,
Elizabeth
