View Full Version : My computer isn't working after a power surge

Cannot use my computer at home. Went to the north at the weekend and the trip switch went in the house. turn trip switch on and 4 lights came on my router and it says unable to connect. Any ideas what the problem is.

are you on a wireless or wired connection?

Not sure which. How would I know which one I am on. Was connect with telephonic. I have a house phone

an earthanet wire from your router to your computor means your wired.
no wire = wireless.

anyways first of all.....shut down your comp.unplug your router wait 30 secs....plug you router back in.wait til your router sets itself up then turn your comp back on.

have you got anything else "connected" to the router mobile phone etc?

There is usually a reset switch on the router, often needs a needle or pen nib to press it to reset.

If your router is located next to television , DVD, etc you may find that your filter from phone socket ( if fitted) has stopped working.

You may need to put your security(network) key code in again if you cannot connect to the internet,go to (Start,control panel,network and internet,connect to internet) put in your security key code in and connect.*

*Security or network key code should be on the back of your router
