Firstly, let me explain. I had a stoke at the begiining of the month which is why I have not been on line.

Fortunately it was a right brain blockage which obviously affected me physically on the left side yet hardly affected my marbles and speech. Typing one handed is a pain in the bum though.

I would like to publicly thank Steve Delsey who has been a rock to both me and Carol. Nothing has been too much touble especially sorting everything out as Carol is physically unable to drive.

Special thanks, also, to Dave Tracy and Cy Benson who both stepped in without being asked to give Carol a lift to Candeleria (Which isn't the easiest place to get to) and their offers of help with anything.

Not forgetting Derrick Lynes, my neighbour, who had a pram (zimmer frame) waiting for me when I got home. I'm getting the hang of it already. Cheers, Derrick.

Last, but not least, an extra special thanks to the Canarian Health Service for their outstanding care from ambulanceman to specialist, who were fantastic in their professionalism and care without whom I wouldn't be writing this.

Oh, Slodgie, so sorry to hear about your problem. It seems like you are on the mend now and everyone is rooting for you and Carol. I guess you are really lucky to be able to even contemplate trying to keep everyone in order on the Forum and we will all try to be extra specially good for you, but don't count on it lasting very long!! I have ordered a lift for the Vault and the Dungeon to make it easier for you to keep a check on us! Will be thinking of you both and hoping that things improve each day!

Thanks to everyone for their wishes but the point was to point out the goodness that is still there by a lot of folks.

In my semi dementia:eyebrows: it seemed like the thing to do after all the ill will expressed of late in other threads.

There is still more good in the world than bad and it-s up to us all to keep it that way..

Take care of yourself, don't rush recovery and you will get through it. My mum had a massive stroke at 42, recovered and lived until she was 72. But my dad had 5 and died with the last one. I know how difficult the last month will have been for both of you and I do wish you all the very best.

Keep making progress Slodge and look after yourself, but don't think that you can use the " not feeling up to it" excuse for joining Carol and myself for a birthday drink in October!

See you very soon, Eric

Nope, can't let you buy the first round, I wouldn't like you to break the Welsh tradition of being the last one to buy a drink.

We will just stand back and let Marbro buy the drink!:p
