Hi, I have noticed my electric bill has almost doubled over the past 5 years. More worrying on months when I am in the UK, with only the fridge-freezer left on, it is still almost 50€ a month.
Do you think this is correct?

Fridge freezer shouldn't use more than 4 or 5 euros per month....unless its faulty
If its empty why leave it on,when your in the UK...
Electricity (unit price) hasn't doubled in the last 5 years but it's certainly gone up in price
What you maybe witnessing is the price increase and Endesa have hiked up 5% surcharges (fines) for not swapping over to the Opening Market. (this comes from Industria)
So if you've had 4 x surcharges and unit price increases that could account to 30%-40% for example

+1 even if it was left on there would be no way the bill would be 50 euro ,are you sure you have switched everything else off?

Thank you for all your replies. I how see that my account is every 2 months, rather than every month. I had not realised the change. I leave the fridge-freezer on with food in it ready for my return. Perhaps next time I will turn it off, and see what the bill is. Thanks again for all your help.
anybody seen/had the, earlier in the year, much talked about €35 ish rebate/discount ? We had our meter read in Spain today so await with anticipation seeing if what happens here.

I would be inclined to switch off Your Power, then check if the Meter is still running..
Crude and simple, but would help put Your mind at rest. I always wonder where the Power for the Communal Lighting
is coming from.......
Just received my Iberdrola bill and there is mention of the rebate being paid on the next bill after 1 July - hopefully Endesa will say the same.
