You can if it is not locked to 02.

Hi Delderek, thanks I realised that it would need to be unlocked. I had hoped that that as O2 and Telefonica were the same company that they would be interchangeable even in a locked phone.

Any one here sell them?

Telefonica is Movistar, any of their shops sell them, many in the Tourist areas should have somone that speaks some English.

Can't be 100% certain, but Orange Spanish Sim card wont work in a locked UK orange phone. So I presume it would be the same for O2.

I've found it best to keep a separate phone. My previous ones were getting a bit tatty, so I've just bought a pair of these for £17 each: one black, one blue/black.

Important points for me:

Dual-band GSM SIMFREE
Colour Screen
Dust-proof and splash-proof
Digital clock
Calculator
Flashlight
Calendar
Phonebook
Converter
Speaking clock
Alarm Clock
Standby Time up to 842 Hours (more than a month)

You can buy also buy Dual sim card phones if you want to keep your English sim and spanish one in the same phone. I have a very basic 'unlocked' Nokia so can use my 02 sim and a Spanish one.

Hi Su, that is an even better idea. Which SIM do you have in Tenerife? Did you buy the phone in the UK, and then add a Spanish SIM.

I bought my phone in Thailand!! However see below....not actually the same model, but the same principle. I'm currently in the UK so cannot tell you exactly which Nokia my model is.

I googled dual sim phones and found this website so there must be loads of others:

My Spanish SIM was a Movistar...
