Read ALL the small print. As a frequent traveller I always buy travel insurance. My policy is due for renewal next year so I have been looking at what's on offer. Got a good price (I thought) until I read the policy small print and what the policy DOES NOT cover. Gems included this: "any self-inflicted damage, including damage caused by tooth-brushing or any other oral hygiene activity". Yes if you require any dental treatment whilst away - which has occurred because you clean your teeth or floss, the insurance doesn't cover that. :angry:There are others but the lesson for me is "read the small print" before you buy a policy with so many "exclusions" its practically impossible to claim - thus rendering it useless.

Is there anybody on the forum who can point me in the right direct for a quote from say November to April for insurance?

Try INSURE AND GO. I have an Annual Family Gold travel cover for 90 days max., premium being £86.74. If aged over 65, it has a maximum of 31days cover, per trip.
Hope this helps.

Long Stay Travel Insurance

Obviously, Jhonr, you like others to do the work for you..................so read on........................

Sometimes a two-week trip is just not enough! Sometimes you like to stay abroad for longer to soak up the culture and the beautiful landscapes. InsureandGo offer a Long Stay policy that can cover you for up to 12-months of continuous travel for a competitive price.

For a very competitive price, InsureandGo can cover your extended trip against eventualities such as cancellation, personal accident, medical expenses and also lost, theft or damage of your personal possessions.

No need to thank me!!

I bank with RBS and through themmy wife and I have an annual policy that allows 160 days at a time for extra payment(not cheap due to pre-existing conditions at 450 quid) .
It covers most issues and is 5 star rated by Defaqto , quite a few banks and building societies do this .

I have been researching several sites for many days - so didn't need a sarcastic remark about someboy doing the work for me. I was asking the question in case I had missed something and if someone had been in a similar position. In so far as house insurance is concerned I had already researched that and my house won't be left unoccupied for more than 30 days.

You,ll not last long on here if you thought that remark sarcastic enough to comment upon!

Think you may have to go to specialist broker as 90 days seems to be max

Also remember if you go over 183 days in theory you become a resident and are liable for Spanish taxation on your world wide income

Yes, that's about what we paid them, too.

I'm 70, wife's 66. We came into the same 'charging bracket' with Staysure.
