View Full Version : Do we need to register as resident in Tenerife if we're not working there?

I'm new to this forum, but could do with some help, myself and my husband are hoping to move to Tenerife in 2016, and wanted to know if we need to register ourselves on the island, We won't be working so is this still necessary??

what Mr Nine+ means is, laws, rules, regulations, paperwork etc change so often, almost overnight, that whatever advice you learn now, may well, and probably will be, different by 2016

Agree, whats good today officially may well be completely opposite next week.
However what is not going to change are the tax laws that stipulate that if you are here for more than 183 days a year you MUST become subject to Spanish tax regulations. As this has all manner of ramifications I suggest you speak to an expert right now.

You will need to prove that you have enough cash to support yourself to apply for residency

HI when you say 183 days a year does this mean that if you go back to the uk
for a week or so does the time start again or is it in a calendar year

Simple as that.
