A few pictures of Teide National Park at night (moon light)

No special equipment, just a 'bog standard' camera, a tripod, and a LONG exposure.

Teide National Park is less than an hours drive from the south resorts, and at night its even more beautiful - largely void of people or traffic. A truly surreal and completely quiet paradise - a 'must do again' experience.

These pictures were taken after midnight , where the temperature had dropped to below 2 degrees - as measures by my phone!

The stars are blurred because of the earths rotation in 60 seconds!

At this altitude (as measured by my phone), it IS rather cold! Wrap up warm.

Temperature AND pressure measured by my phone. Temperature and pressure at Tenerife South Airport at the time showed 22 degrees at 1012 hPa

The bulge on the front of the car (Sara!) above the headlight , is an HD camera :

Just to add, that offline mapping apps such as CoPilot Live EU West are great for seeing your location on your smart phone regardless of cell signal.

Some lovely shots there!
We've just done this same walk for the third time - 27km from near the observatory at Izaņa to Boca Tauce...
Enduring, but with some lovely landscapes and surreal scenery under the moon!
The long straight from the cable car station to El Parador / Roque de Garcia seems to go on forever, but the lunar landscape is just awesome.

I went for another walk across the caldera last night. The first 7km had to be scrapped as the road from El Portillo to Izaņa was closed:

So it was only 20km from El Portillo to Boca Tauce.

There is still lots of snow:

And snow:

It's a nice walk, and can be a mix of enjoyable and enduring. Some amazing scenery, but the cold gets into your bones and can be quite debilitating.

Getting back to the car felt quite a relief in the end:

Pictures were all taken on a cheap camera with no stand, hence the poor quality.

<for anybody who likes long walks and enjoys the most amazing views of the stars, this is worth doing.
