Hi, I visited Puerto de la cruz last October. Walking around on a Sunday morning I came across the market next to the Botanical Gardens. It was not especially large, but it seemed a really nice little market to me. I am not normally a market sort of person and I have not really enjoyed those I have seen in the south of the island. Not that I have made much of an effort to visit those of late, and things could have changed. They are too busy for my taste. A couple of visits to the one on fridays at the Golf du Sur, and the hippie style one at Medano have been enough to satisfy my curiosity. I do like the farmers market at Las Chafiras though, and really like visiting the large market in santa cruz.

Anyway, the Puerto market by the Botanical Gardens was pleasant to walk around, busy but not too crowded. There was a mix of spanish and non spanish stall holders selling a variety of mostly non food items. As I recall, quite a few craft type stalls with what seemed to me to be very reasonable prices. There were some vegetable stalls as well. Overall an interesting mix.

I spoke to two lovely British ladies who had a stall there. They told me there was another larger market on that day down the hill in Puerto itself. They did tell me where it was, unfortunately I got sidetracked and never got there and have since forgotten. I must have seen a squirrel or something, and run off chasing it.

Anyway, Can anyone tell me where the other Puerto market(s) can be found? Also are there any others I can reasonably get to by bus. I am thinking La Orotava or something. Thanks.

There is one in the road at the side of Trebol on Saturday and Sunday across the main road from the side of Botanical Gardens it used to be just inside Trebol there is also a rastro on Saturdays at the Municipal Market at the top end of Punto Brava and of course the Car Boot at the English Church the first Saturday of the month. I am sure someone else will tell you of others . El Sazual have a market I believe most days.

As Megaloo mentioned, there is the large municipal food market (http://www.yelp.es/biz/mercado-municipal-de-puerto-de-la-cruz-puerto-de-la-cruz) which has a flea market on Saturdays and I believe also Wednesdays.
Here is a photo of the entrance. There are more stalls on the top floor, on the outdoor roof.

There is also a big farmers' market in Tacoronte (http://www.mercadillodelagricultor.com/) every Saturday and Sunday from 8 to 2. Worth a visit to see homemade wines, honey, baking as well as produce. Old photo here but more on the web link above.

I'm sure Orotava has a mercadillo somewhere as well but I don't have that info.

There is a craft market every Sunday morning in Plaza Europa outside of the town hall.

Thanks, your link to the municipal market even has a map too! Most useful.

By the way, I also enjoy the photos you post on this forum.

I should get a chance to visit Puerto very soon and I will visit that market. If I have the time, I will take myself off to the smaller towns too.

What do they sell..?

Plaza Europa Craft market.

There are a few stalls selling food and drinks and the others are mainly selling hand made crafts of a good quality. I have bought a few things there. Hope you pay a visit.

Hi, the Europa Craft market is very good, lots of individual items, hand made with care. Good prices too.
