Car seat rules for babies in Tenerife

Hi I am travelling to Tenerife in March with a 15 month old baby - his mum wants to know about the rules regarding car seats for kids. Do you need one to travel in a taxi? Do the taxis carry them? If we hire a car, do we need to hire a seat also?

Car rental companys supply them. Must be put in rear seats, and older kids too.. Not required in Taxi.
