Do any of you locals know of somewhere we can stay.

I've been booked since feb 26 for two weeks, but the hotel after accepting our booking came back and said they could not agree the WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE ROOM but they had allocated me a ground floor room.

They assured me that people in chairs had used their non adapted rooms.

However last week after speaking directly to a an employee in reservations who spoke excellent English we realised that there were concerns about the bathrooms in these unadapted room.

Today I spoke to him after he has inspected the rooms on the ground floor and he really spelled out how small the bathrooms are and that I won't be able to manoevre around them or get my chair close to the toilet to lift myself across onto it. I am very independent but I do need some basics in place.

This was a very good inclusive deal so we've lost out all ways.

So, I'm appealing to you locals to see if you know of anywhere reasonably priced with good wheelchair access for someone who cannot walk at all.

I use a fairly small manual chair. I can bring one 60 cms wide.

I'd be very grateful. I've been pretty unwell since Xmas and this holiday would give me such a boost.

I go to see Eugeni the therapist at the Bitacora and always come away feeling marvelous.

Many thanks for listening.

I'm not giving up hope yet.

We are very neat and tidy...there's just me and OH.

Gosh, I'm so sorry to hear of your predicament. I suppose we should be thankful that you found out before you turned up there.. Hopefully, someone will be along with some accommodation suggestions. Good luck!

This is probably not the solution you are seeking, but possibly your original hotel has a wheelchair-friendly toilet elsewhere on the complex (e.g. in the lobby) which you could use. Not ideal, I realise, but it may be a way to rescue your holiday.

Thank you for that suggestion. Yes they do but as I cannot even get into the bathroom for the most basic wash I think it's just going to be too difficult and then it becomes a boot camp and not a holiday.

I believe the Noelia has wheelchair rooms, whether they are available or not is a different matter.
as you mentioned the Bitacora could you not try them too?
I would assume the original hotel will have to offer a full refund as they have failed in adhering to their contract.Dont let them wiggle out, although you could ask if they have any sister hotels or any other in their chain who could accommodate you , even if the start rating is higher then that would be the least they could do.
Good luck

So far we've only paid the £300 flight deposit so no money changed hands at the moment. Charlie at dial a flight has been amazing , he's really gone the extra mile for me, even to ringing up all the hotels I know of, including noelia sur but all rooms gone.

No, I was rather hoping you owners might know of something that might not readily be on the market. Something tucked away, mouldering away at the back of the fridge sort of style......

Done out of desperation I'm afraid. Last chance saloon and all of that!

Won't give up till that plane leaves.....hopefully with me on it!

Thank you.

That's really kind.

Charlie my travel agent appears to have dedicated his life to helping me and he is as beleaguered as aim with hotels who have a room but say they cannot guarantee it.

To add more insult to injury , I've just had an email asking me to pay the final balance.

Believe me, I wish I could!

Have you tried Trip Advisor? One of the 'Amenities' options is to tick 'Wheelchair access' and if I've read your OP right and are going on Feb 26th for 2 weeks it gives you 79 matching rentals. I assume Bitacora is the hotel in PDLA - it goes down to 6 results for something in that area. They may all be unsuitable, too far etc but if you've not tried it already, one might get you there!
One page on the site that may also be of use: http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Travel-g187479-c65401/Tenerife:Spain:Hotels.Suitable.For.The.Disabled.ht ml

Laterooms.com also has the 'disabled access' facilities option from the menu but only 3 places show in the results for those dates and they all look a bit pricey (for my wallet, anyway!)

Alternatively, have you tried somewhere like this that specialises in disabled access holidays with a number of places in Tenerfie that may be better placed to ensure you get the appropriate room: http://www.disabledaccessholidays.com/disabled-holidays/accessible-holidays/Tenerife.asp

Good luck with finding somewhere.

I can pay the balance. That's not a problem I'd love too. No point in paying when I cannot manage there.

No, not yet. I rang San marino apts. lovely lancashire lady called ciara told me all disabled ones booked. She gave me Tenerife sur and cristiansur. The Tenerife sur had 1 apt, that was booked.

Eugeni, my therapist/ friend at Bitacora gave me a number for Los corones. They had no adapted rooms.

So, drawn yet another blank. No irons in the fire at the moment.

Unless anyone here has any more suggestions.

I'm trying to keep calm and positive!

Thanks addick. A lot of Trip advisor I've already tried. There's the jardines de nivaria. I'll look at that one later. I don't want to be in fan able or Adeje . We like to walk and push and it's hilly round there. Plus I want to be able to get to the Bitacora to get my treatments.

There's a room/ apartment somewhere with my name on it....it's just finding it!

Lissalyon here's help from fixer

Well, the good news is I am sorted!

I got a phone call last night from the lady who manages the apartments to say they have a cancellation.

I haven't posted straightaway to tell you as she is not english and as we were speaking she made a mistake on my dates, feb 12 she said and not feb 26 as it is.
I corrected her and I emailed her my dates. Just waiting for her to confirm but am pretty sure we got it sorted on phone

Like a big kid last night I couldn't sleep for excitement. Only got 5 hours so tired but happy.

I want to give you all a big thank you for your help and encouragement when I could so easily have given in to being miserable about it.

Also a big thank you to fixer, I will keep a copy of those places as I didn't know of any of them.

Would anyone like to meet up between the 27 feb and mar 11. We are in las Americas near the vulcano but we can walk along the front. It's no problem.

lso I struggle to find this thread on the index board, I have to come in from link in my email.

Thanks Addick. I've stayed at this place twice before but you normally cannot get in over the winter months this as it is ram jam full. I'll look into the vault and see if anyone fancies a meet nearer the time we go!

Well its day four. Weather has been brilliant. Highs about 25 . Yesterday got a bit crispy. Nights still cool so you can sleep.

I need to write down the name of the places fixer posted. So we can visit them while we are here as we definitely need a back up plan. I'd also like to meet with Terry I think from the San Marino apartments.

Ah, we walked from the vulcano in las Americas to the Paloma beach yesterday and more and back. Think we did about 5 miles all in all. It's a long way out! I need to get back to the Bitacora area for my treatments with the marvelous Eugeni who I found from this forum. Th man has been a god send. Where we are now I'm 5 mins push away.
