I have movistar, have had them for years have had no problems with them at all. When my router broke
they came within 24 hours with a new one.
I am lucky in that I live up the mountain in a small village but get 10mb as we live near to the exchange.

Where ever you are I would find out what your neighbours have and what MB they receive.
I am currently watching the rugby, its a great picture with no buffering.

I am certain you will receive a good selection of reviews from other forum members then you need to choose.
Good luck.

I am with DT media but for several years was with Movistar ( AKA Telefonica) which I found trouble free! Included in my contract with DT media I get ADSL (speed here in Chayofa around 5-6mb) Free National calls, 300 free minutes per month of calls to landlines anywhere in Europe (Great for calling UK) and of course free UK TV which also includes 14 day catch-up this is all at the cost of 59€ per month! it would be less without catch-up TV. I have had a few problems with TV but seems to be fine now! A Fritzbox (German) N-Router is supplied free and is set up ready to go! The change over was quick and painless and I personally didn't have to do anything DT media do all the necessary paperwork. Overall an excellent service!:)

I think movistar owns the lines so wherever you live it depends on the old monopoly, the other companies just lease from movistar, that is why I went with them.

All I know about Jazztel is their call centre constantly bombard me with phone calls! I wonder if they are as attentive when you have signed up to them!:wink2:

I have been with DT for a long time and am more than happy.
Customer service is excellent whatever language you speak.
Included in the free TV is a new sport channel which shows EPL football. (Don't know how long this will be free though)
In Chafiras I get 6-7 meg regularly which, compared to the UK is not too good, but for Tenerife is good, especially as it is consistent.

Please could anyone say if the Internet from Moviestar is still ok and the speed is decent. I am thinking of having the router installed (one which doesn't need telephone line) and taking out an 18 month contact.

Thanks Cas

It depends on where are you living. In some areas from Tenerife Movistar has fiber, if not you have to get the usual conection with DSL. I have at home VDSL with Vodafone with 24mb, but with the same line Movistar just offers me 10mb.

If you are planning to use a router with 3G connection , a friend of mine staying in Granadilla uses a MiFi router from Pocketnet (www.pocketnet.es) that works with Movistar.

Could you tell us about your experience? Have it met to your expectations?

I got it installed in July and used it till middle of September, then I returned to UK. All the time I used it I didn't have any problems at all, the speed was as good as what I get in UK. The engineer said that it was in the process of being upgraded so it would be faster and to contact them on my return to see if it has been done. I was happy with it and it worked out cheaper than buying it ad hoc.
