We need more tourists, so in an effort to promote this, I post a link that perhaps will tempt a few, almost all the photos have been taken by us.

Nice photos, but do the island's inhabitants really want more tourists? I thought they might quite appreciate living on the island least spoiled by mass tourism.

It has certainly tempted me. When the Sun is going down I can often see El Hierro, I often wondered what it was like. Love photo number 7 the one of the field with all the blue flowers, just like a Bluebell Wood in England.

Nice photos, but do the island's inhabitants really want more tourists? I thought they might quite appreciate living on the island least spoiled by mass tourism.

We have massive unemployment, bars and businesses are struggling to survive, some have closed we have lost 20% of the population due to the crisis, one of our main exports now are young people, they have to leave the island to find work. So yes we need tourists to fill the empty hotels and apartments that are already here, this would stimulate the economy and create more jobs. 30 minutes on a plane from Tenerife south on a Saturday come and enjoy Herreņo hospitality……...

Made me feel quite homesick.

It is the dry stone walls, like the uplands of Northern England. The flowers start from mid February and last until the hot sun dries everything

The pictures are gorgeous, but I guess you need more tourist attractions besides the beautiful nature and environment.I'm in the tourism branch since I was 19 working on a ocean liners and river cruise ships. Maybe you could try to arrange some cruise company to visit your beautiful island.Imagine 2-3 ships a day docking with 2000 passengers and 1000 crew,Is going to be a great benefit........

A good idea, that has already been done however our new port can only dock two ships and one usually has to be the ferry. I too was in the shipping industry but that is another story. The tourists we need are the walkers, the divers and those that just want to chill out. The cruise liners also are welcome.

As far as I understood you already have good accommodation for the ones who want just to chill out,I'm not supporter of the all inclusive type of accommodation but you could try .For the walkers you can implement special walking tours ATV tours,Horseback riding,off-road adventure, bird watching and mm.For the divers scuba diving or (courses)fishing, sailing, surfing, snorkeling, boat cruises.
What about spa and wellness, and I almost forgot one of the most important part in the tourism is "Food & Beverages"

Most of those you mention are already available, but because the tourists never visit, many establishments are either closing down or catering for local tastes only. Transport costs are very expensive to none residents, day trips are almost impossible. The development of tourism you find on other islands, has in the past been discouraged by the authorities here, and because of this we have retained the Herreņo culture and charm.

The island is unspoiled by high rise hotel and apartment complexes, there are no, "Full English breakfast, Yorkshire pudding, bisto gravy, sky T.V. match tonight," establishments here. Quality tourists we need.

People who do arrive tell me that the island is like what they remember 50 years ago

I catch you point now, quality tourists- hard to find. You don't want an other "IBIZA':)then you probably need tourists over 60
I have been working on the ships with Americans mainly over 60-70 and they are great spenders:).Seven day's cruise was like 4000 -5000$ for two persons.
As far as I see the tickets to your destination are round 800$ which is big disadvantage. Then you should probably promote something that they cannot find everywhere untouched nature environment, peace ,quietness not an other fast growing tourism industry.
I was looking forward to move and work in place like El Hierro ,but now i understand that in this financial situation even there is economic disaster.

Best Regards

When the volcano was steaming away last year, it's a pity the government said "stay away". Instead, they should have said "why not come here to see all the funny vulcanologists".

I have just been watching the most beautiful sunset over El Hierro, I can still the Island now against the red sky.

We get some incredible views of La Gomera, Tenerife, and when it is very clear the peaks of Gran Canaria!! further up the road we can see La Palma.

I envy your view though, would love to see Hierro from Tenerife
