ISLAND CONNECTIONS
::
EDITION 715
:

Cruel to cruets
As from the end of February the sight of the oil and
vinegar cruets being delivered up with your salad will
vanish from European restaurants.
Following, it is said, discovery of sub standard olive
oil being offered in some restaurants across the EU, our
Brussels masters have decided to ban the use of this
condiment as it is currently served and imposed as from
January 1st only single servings of olive oil in plastic
bottles and sachets. Restaurants have until the end of
February to use up existing stocks.
As a blanket measure it seems like a vast over-reaction.
Wouldn’t it have been simpler and more eco-friendly (more
plastic in the world) to have placed huge fines on those
establishments caught serving sub-standard oil?

Whats happening !!!!!!

Isn't this old news?
As far as I know, they reverted that decision a few months ago?

Its good news if they have, I saw this in the current edition of Island Connections as well this week and was stunned by the sheer stupidity of it. So it seems that there is some common sense after all!
