Hiya, Me and my mate are moving to Tenerife next Autumn. Weve already managed to secure some bar work and a place for the first couple of months, but weve worked as Lifeguards/swimming instructors for a long time in Britain now and we really want to possibly continue when over there. I cant seem to find alot of information on it though and i was wondering if you had to be able to speak fluent Spanish or if theyre was a qualification you had to get when youre their. Weve always been told our British quals are internationally recognized but theirs always exceptions. Thanks for any info or help you may have.

There might be a lot of competition from local lifeguards... The lifeguards on the beaches have not been paid for around a year and are likely to be first in line for any jobs going.. However, I wish you the very best of luck! Do you have a fallback plan?

Sounds like a bit of a nightmare. We have bar work lined up but it was always meant to be a temporary thing until we could sort some lifeguarding... but that dosent seem so practical anymore.

You might try contacting somewhere like Siam Park or T3 in la Caleta

They certainly look interesting. Would i not have to speak Spanish though?

It's possible that they need Spanish , any beach job via local authority will almost certainly require proficiency in Spanish at least !
You can enquire , nothing to lose !
