Hey everyone
I moved to south Tenerife this year and i cant speak Spanish at all.
I really need to see a GP soon but i don't know how health system here works. Do doctors speak English here? I got the impression that most Spanish people who work in 'non touristic' areas don't speak English well or at all, so I really don't know where I should go.

I need to get prescription for depression medicine, but I'm only 17 so I was also wondering about the doctor-patient privacy. Do they need to contact the parents?

Any answers will be really appreciated :)

Where abouts are you situated? Are you employed and paying Social here ?
Do you have an EHIC card ?

The walk in clinic(Urgencias) across from bus station in Los Cristianos may help in providing a prescription .

I live near Adeje. Well, when I first came to this island, my purse got stolen and the card was in it. However, I'm registered with it, so I don't think it would be a problem since i can contact with them & ask for replacement certificate. And no, I'm full time student here.
Thank you, that is so convenient. Do you think I need to call them up to make an appointment before coming in?

The issue is that the EHIC is only for people who are here on holiday , staying here full time is a whole lot different . You need to contact the NHS and get your card replaced to sort you out short term, if you are planning to stay here full- time that is a more complicated situation .

For 20 euros you could go to that central medical place, either on the Golf or there is a new one under the Arona Gran in Los Cristianos and they speak English
