How to use via movil travel cards on the bus?

I just bought a monthly travel pass from the via movil smart phone app.

The website shows a video of how to use it on a tram (scan the QR code).

Is it the same system on buses too? I don't speak much Spanish yet so would like to understand the process before using it.

At present I believe they are only for use in Santa Cruz metropolitan area ,not down south!

I'm staying in Santa Cruz so that's not a disaster!

I had expected that I'd be able to use it getting back to the airport on the 111 though and that doesn't seem to be the case.

I'll report back on this thread how to use it when I try tomorrow.

They are supposed to be expanding it to south, but don´t know when !

The QR codes to scan are on labels either on the plastic screen immediately to the left of you when you board or above the driver's head.

Press "travel" in the movil app and it activates the camera to scan it. Then it shows this screen.

Click the top (newest) ticket to open it and show it to the driver, who then types in the code.
