XXIV Rallye Villa Adeje Tenerife Sur

`Adeje Rally On A South Tenerife Tour

Spring signals the start of the motor racing rally season in Tenerife. It’s a time trial of short bursts mainly uphill and Adeje is one of the biggest events with the four racing sections taking place on Saturday 5 April.

The cars all gather the night before (Friday 4th) at Calle Jardin Botanico in Adeje for inspection and an 8pm parade. Then it’s an early start on Saturday with a dash from Arona town to Vilaflor from 8.30, then they regroup in Guia de Isora for a 9.50 burst to Santiago del Teide to complete the first section.

Those two runs are then repeated from Arona at 12.35 and Guia at 1.55 pm to close the first half. It’s a big exercise to get the car across from one stage to another but with plenty of stewards it usually runs pretty smoothly. After a few hours break, the afternoon racing goes from Tamaimo to Playa San Juan from 5.40 and from Tijoco to Taucho from 6.30. The runs are repeated with a 8.40 pm start from Tamaimo and a 9.30 pm set off from Tijoco. There’s a very different finish this year with floodlit racing at Karting Club Tenerife from 10.10 pm.

All the racing is free to watch from whatever vantage points you can find on the route, if your planning a quiet days driving yourself – expect a few closed roads and detours.`

I remember quite a few years back when the Rally was in Los Cristianos. I couldn't believe it. It went through the town past the bus terminal together with normal traffic. It was mad. Not sure if its the same now.
