Does anyone know what the arrival of a new satellite due to be in position around the 1st of May will mean. From what I have heard the current backup satellite is not working properly so is being decommissioned and another satellite is being moved in to replace it. Once a working backup is in place a lot more channels will be moved to the Astra2E & Astra2F satellites which could reduce our signal even further!

Our TV people are telling our community that we need a 4.2m dish but until the satellites are finally settled whch won't be until about October we are loathed to spend any money on new equipment. Anyone got any thoughts on this?

From a personal point of view I think sorting yourself out individually is the way to go, we are really delighted with our IPTV which is worth the 17€ a month for the 14 day catchup on every channel.

Must agree. Even though I have a full sat system in place (albeit a small dish) I have gone the internet route.

I think the days of community TV are numbered, I can't see a workable solution given the signals that are available these days.

The only sat launch appears to be 2G and that will not operational till later in year

Also suggestion launch is not until September at least

Most communities have retuned their systems and dishes and are receiving their signals again.
There has been a large uptake in Media Boxes and use of XBMC on laptops for free access to IPTV on internet , as stated elsewhere , you don't have to pay anyone for it , just buy the box from somewhere like amazon .

Its not a new satellite that has been launched it is an existing satellite that is being moved to the same position 28.2 as the two existing satellites. Astra 2C was at 19 Longitude before they started to move it a couple of weeks ago, it is currently at 27 longitude so nearly there now. http://www.n2yo.com/?s=26853

The Astra 2C satellite has now arrived at 28.2 longitude so in the same location as Astra 2E and Astra 2F this satellite can now be used as the backup so expect more channels to be moved in the next few weeks. The expected launch of the Astra2G satellite which should have been in the summer is now likely to be delayed by several months or some are saying the end of 2015 as the US sactions against Russia is going to stop nearly all satellite launches for some time.
