Living in an apartment and taking up oil painting as an artist, we also have a septic tank here of course, please any ideas on best way of disposing of old used turps? Please don't advise using acrylic paint.

I seem to remember from days gone bye that baby oil can be used to clean brushes.

It is not considered hazardous waste and can be washed down the drain. Excess baby oil can be disposed in the regular rubbish collection because it is non-flamable.

Thankyou very much Mike. I was considering linseed oil instead of turps which I hate anyway. But baby oil is another consideration.

Take it to a punto limpio
The one in Adeje is On The way to Armeņime
Arona in The way to Buzanada

Drop it into your nearest rubbish bin in the street the amount you're using will be so small

Thanks for the ideas but it is a large painting I am working on and the amounts are not so small when combined in a washing up bowl of warm soapy water as well after cleaning the brushes and the palette.

Let it settle and it can be reused. If it's too dirty then some cheap cat litter or pet sawdust should soak it up and can then be disposed of.
