I was really sorry to hear that as it was only a few days ago that we were watching him on a Ronnie Barker tribute programme. He was a really funny man in a quiet and modest sort of way.

I loved him acting the total innocent in prison, with Fletch able to tell him absolutely anything about the letters his wife had written. So many of them gone now, very sad.

R.I.P. Like all the great comedy actors he had the ability to make an incredibly difficult job look easy.
