Hi,

Currently living on mainland Spain but finding it too cold in winter. Would like to move to Tenerife but not sure about flight arrangements for work. Working on a rig in the Danish sector and fly from Alicante mostly.

Do any guys who live in Tenerife work in the North Sea and how do you commute without it taking too long out of time off. Are there better places to work and commute to from Tenerife as I would consider moving job to make it possible for me to live so far South.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

I know a number of people that work offshore, you will have more luck joining these groups on Facebook and asking on there when accepted to the group.

I doubt you can do much better than Tenerife for choice, cost and frequency of flights. I come back to the UK (Gatwick) every 3 weeks for 5 days. I use Norwegian, Monarch and Easyjet which gives me plenty of choice on price. Flight times are ideal; late out of Tenerife on a Sunday evening, early back the folloiwng Saturday. From Gatwick I expect it would be fairly easy to connect anywhere else in Europe. I guess it comes down to what you consider too much in terms of commute time, and how often you have to do it.

A few hours on the Internet and you'll soon work out if it makes sense for you with the available flight schedules. The 3 airlines above all release flight 6-9 months in advance.

Thanks to everyone for advice, it's been really useful. Now I just need to worry about how hard it is to get a radio op job in the middle east when I don't speak arabic!

I have a friend who lives in the south of Sweden and if she visits she flies from Copenhagen to the North Airport. There seems to be a good frequency of flights. I haven't explored the Copenhagen to Tenerife South route but that airport receives a number of popular airlines.
