ADEJE Council is continuing to renovate and upgrade social housing in the borough.
The Department of Works, Planning and Urban Infrastructure has received an investment of over one million euros in 10 buildings in the Las Rosas-Armeņime zone. The work will affect 80 homes and will start immediately.
At a recent Council session, the plans were approved under the overall national 2013-2016 scheme to encourage renting of homes and urban renovation.
The plan is supported by the autonomous community and the Cabildo ,with Adeje bearing almost 40% of the cost. The regional authorities will contribute 16%, the Cabildo 10% with the remainder coming from the national department for development.
Gonzalo Delgado, Adeje Councillor for Urban Development and Works, said: “At the start of this term of office and over recent years, the local government has taken on board the need to help upgrade and renovate social urban housing most in need of attention.
“For us, this is of primary importance, a vital help to our residents who are most in need. and we are fully aware that what is important to them is the availability of adequate housing.
“We have used and adopted all the national plans available to us, as well as investing local funding to make this possible.”
He continued, “the agreement between the different authorities allows us carry out reforms and renovations in those buildings that need it and over recent years we have been able to attend to a number of buildings in different parts of Adeje, improving the quality of life for the residents of our borough”, adding that that national Ministry for development had advanced the monies to Adeje as they had met all the requirements laid down. “We are very aware of the need to adhere to the plan as to not do so would have direct repercussions on our residents. We also recognise the benefits of working in conjunction with the other administrations and are delighted to be able to begin this work now”
