Hi there,

Although I am originally from Spain, after twenty years living outside, I am relocating with my family (husband, 5 years old daughter, and our lab) from USA (Chicago) to Tenerife Nord. I am kind of homesick and would love to meet some families with young kids (but also without them) and make new friends to share experiences.
Also, I was wondering if there is any kind of activity for kids during the weekends in English, in the Nord of the Island, such as storytelling, crafts, play groups, hiking groups with kids, etc.
Thank you so much for your help!

Hi...

If you are near Puerto de la Cruz, Alvaro's Tennis Club (Club Deportivo y de Ocio) (http://www.cdopuertodelacruz.com/CDO_Puerto_de_la_Cruz_-Tenis/tenis_tenerife.html) has activities for young children in their LUDOTECA section.

And for adults, apart from tennis and padel, there are classes in Pilates and yoga as well as other activities put on by the British Games Club, which also meets there.

There's a cafeteria with Spanish home cooking and snacks as well.

Here's a link (http://www.cdopuertodelacruz.com/CDO_Puerto_de_la_Cruz_-Tenis/ludoteca.html) to the young childrens ludoteca page.

Sorry I just noticed you are looking for activities in English for children. The activities at the tennis club will for sure be in Spanish.

There may be something up at the English Library (http://www.englishlibrary.mytenerife.eu/) in Puerto de la Cruz.

Hi Canarybird!

I looked in the English Library´s Newsletter and they have some interesting events on the program.

Thank you very much for the information!

Pollock2008...

You may find the Ludoteca on Saturday mornings could be also interesting for your daughter as it is a craft and play group for young children, even if they will be Spanish speaking.

I will ask them if they also have other nationalities attending.

I think youngsters manage to enjoy themselves no matter what their language once they start playing a game, or working on manual crafts.

They also have tennis and padel classes for youngsters, but not sure at what age they start. I will ask around and let you know if I find out anything more.
