NEW Spanish Driving Licence, having completed all the necessary steps to implement the changeover. 2nd week in January until yesterday, exactly 2 months. So not bad. But there was a bit of really good news, fully expecting a period of 2 years on the new licence, lo and behold they have granted me one for 5, yes FIVE years taking me into my 70s. Not read up on everything but there may be a requirement to attend for a medical in a shorter period, maybe every 2 years?

Delighted. No more possible grief from the Guardia Civil Trafico!!!!!

Congratulations :c2:

When we changed our licences to Spanish when I was 61 and my OH was 63.

We each received a licence which expired on the exact date of our 70th birthdays.

I am not sure either, but also believe that after the age of 70 a medical is required something like every 2 years.

In our case perhaps our licences will be renewed for a shorter period.

I got my license last month too and it takes me into my eighties as opposed to every two years on the UK one!!I see the police have been stopping a lot of drivers in my area asking for their Spanish license and I think some people have been rather confused about it but I am feeling quite relieved I have one now.Been here 11 years and not been stopped once--- ooops! maybe I am tempting fate!
