Has anyone been through the process of getting a disabled sticker for use in their car?How long does it take and what documentation is needed and where do I apply? I have been on the Spanish site for info but would appreciate some further imput before I embark on what I have been told is a long "journey". Always good to hear other peoples' experiences.

First stop Doctors, then Social worker, Town Hall in the area you live, take letter photocopy's of passport, NIE, Empadriemento, passport photo. If anybody else is going to be the driver you also need the same ID for them and they have to go with you you even have to take a photo of the car. It takes about two years and the first one you get is only for the area you live, such as Arona or Adeje, you then have to wait again for another one that allows you to use it anywhere. This is not from my experience but what I was told last week.

Thanks Primrose for that---- it seems a long long time before you actually have a sticker and is it worth all the trouble?By the time I get the authorisation I will be eighty and probably not driving----- it will probably be better to use a taxi which I did when visiting hospital Quiron as the parking there is simply dreadful.I can walk fine but my poor husband needs the card as he cannot walk far at all with nerve damage in his legs.My friend got her disability card in two weeks in the UK and apparently can use it over here but we, who live here have to wait two years . It seems ridiculous to me . But thanks for your help.
My Husband has one but the process took about 18 months to 2 years but that was a few years back now We even had to have an interview with Doctors in Santa Cruz I got quite upset at some of the questions they asked, I even asked if they were going to give us a pension??!! as well as a parking badge. Once you have a letter from Doctor that you need one as Primrose said the local Police will give you a temporary one to park within 15 kilometres of where you live
