KING Felipe VI has confessed to receiving a fine from traffic police for a motoring offence – when he was a mere Prince!
The Spanish Monarch, who was visiting the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT)’s headquarters on Easter Monday, gave a speech to representatives from the country’s highway police forces, in which he thanked them for their “good work’”
The King said: “We thank you for your efforts, which benefit numerous families in Spain, and especially knowing that you put your own lives in danger through it on occasion.”
Of the heavy volume of cars on the country’s major trunk roads on the last day of the Easter break, the King wished all those present a safe journey back to base without incident.
King Felipe also admitted that a few years ago, he ended up with a traffic fine, which had them laughing.
He wouldn’t reveal what the sanction was for, but said there were no hard feelings!
