They are cleaning and repairing the large canvases which will hang over the artists working on the creation of the volcanic sand carpets of Corpus Christi to keep off any rain that might fall before the date of the procession which is the evening of Thursday June 11. You will be able to watch as they begin sketching the images with white chalk onto the ground of the city hall plaza. The sands are all of natural colours, with no paint, taken from Las Caņadas del Teide. The artists drizzle the loose sands to form the paintings. Greenery around the edges is shredded heather. Will be interesting to watch these develop. On June 11 there will be fresh flower petal carpets made on the streets. All carpets, both sand and flowers will be swept away after the evening procession of June 11.
