TENERIFE’S Teide National Park starred in the hit TV series Masterchef this week as venue for the seventh programme of the current season.
Cabildo President Carlos Alonso said: “We have a unique promotional opportunity to show the millions of people who watch the show some of the main attractions of Tenerife.
“Viewers will appreciate not only the spectacular landscape and climate, with Teide acting as an incomparable setting for the evolution of the participants, but they will also learn some of the elements of Tenerife cuisine.”
The filming took place on 7-8th April and was supported by the Cabildo, via the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, and Turismo de Tenerife, through its Tenerife Film Commission and its Products club “Saborea Tenerife” (Taste Tenerife).
The Masterchef team, led by the popular Jordi Cruz, Pepe Rodriguez Rey and Samantha Vallejo-Nájera, were delighted with the Island and its settings.
The recording took place in various areas of the National Park, such as the Rambleta, next to the cable car on Teide, and the exteriors of The Parador.
For the tasting of prepared dishes by the contestants, there was an attendance of about 80 people, including wine-makers, representatives of restoration and Island cuisine, as well as those from hotels and travel agencies.
Besides seeing Teide, the participants were able to try different products of the Island’s cuisine and wines, while enjoying picturesque landscapes of the Anaga Rural Park, Los Gigantes, La Laguna and El Medano.
