TENERIFE Cabildo and the Island’s four tourist municipalities – Arona, Adeje, Puerto de la Cruz and Santiago del Teide – will invest a total of 10 million euros to improve public tourist space.
It is part of the new Tourism Strategy, announced recently. And the planned investment could be boosted with more financial contributions from the Canarian Government’s Open Commercial Areas programme, and even private initiatives.
In Puerto de la Cruz, the planned investment will be 1.9 euros, to be allocated to improving the streets in Quintana, Nieves and Ravelo.
The sum exceeds 3.9m in Adeje, to finance actions such as improving access to Costa Adeje from the Fañabe area (down to La Caleta) and the rehabilitation of the waterfront between Puerto Colón and Fañabe Beach.
Meanwhile, the Cabildo’s Cultural and Historical Heritage department has given the green light to a new digital publishing project, aimed at publishing books and cultural magazines.
The CHH is hoping to promote the publication of books in a format compatible with reading devices, such as e-books, and its distribution, the conversion of books already published on paper to a format compatible with electronic reading devices and their distribution, as well as cultural magazines in electronic format.
Finally, Turismo de Tenerife has launched a campaign to promote the Island throughout Spain, aimed at attracting domestic passengers during the summer season.
Among the actions over the next two weeks will be adverts played nationwide in film theatres, prior to the screening of Mad Max, The Avengers and Jurassic World.
