CONSTRUCTION of the new Granadilla port continues to drag. Earlier this year, the breakwater was completed, and according to official data, 40% of the work is now completed.
It means that of the 2,512 metres needed, 1,000 metres have been constructed. The bank pier is behind schedule, but work began on that section this week. The only part of the port yet to see any building is the back esplanade.
The current forecast is that the port will be completed by mid-2016. Work started on 30th July 2010 after a year’s delay, and the controversial project had been rubber-stamped on 27th February 2007.
The venture was awarded to FCC Constructions, Sato and Punta Larga Promotora, with a 115-million-euro budget.
