SANTA Cruz has welcomed cruise liner ‘Anthem of the Seas’, considered the second-largest passenger ship in the world and the most modern of its kind.
Tenerife’s capital city is the first stop in the Canaries for the ship, which has anchored after a brief stay in Funchal, in Madeira. And Anthem will take in various European cities over the next few weeks.
The ship arrived with 5,100 people, of which 3,800 were tourists and 1,300 crew. For this reason, Santa Cruz has organised a special police operation. It is the same procedure that was carried out when the ‘Queen Mary’ came.
Many citizens came to the port to watch the ship’s arrival, and the Port Authority prepared a special reception. This included the delivery of a plaque, commemorating its arrival, and a parade.
And there will be more 2015 arrivals by this gigantic ship because ‘Anthem of the Seas’ will visit Santa Cruz five more times this year.
