Okay people so new thread (I hope!) following Sal's comments which I fully agree with. I adore Tenerife and found myself wondering why it is so special to me. One has to be the weather, the second has to be the sea front just before getting into La Caleta, the third has to be the fantastic light quality up on Mt Teide. What is it for others? New or old posters, please join in.

Obviously the weather, relaxed chill-out lifestyle and plenty of meal choices. Many more come to mind.

i couldn't explain why i love tenerife so much in 3 words, so just pick three out of these, i love the climate. the choice of fantastic restaurants(i have never had a bad meal in 10 years only bad service), i love meeting old friends, and new ones, i love the long walks along the front from los cris to la caleta, the abundant cheap beer that is better than you get here in the uk, the present exchange rate, the fact that you can get a taxi almost anywhere on the island with ease, the excellent bus service, the new siam mall, the choice of designer shops, the cheap ciggs even though i don't smoke, the likes of things to do, like the monkey park, loro park, siam park, aqualand, the dolphin and whale watching trips, the fishing trips and entertainment:spin:

Here,s my 4th..
In the morning i can sit in the front ,be it garden or just the balcony in sunshine mostly.
In the afternoon i can sit ,lie down ,stand up look towards La Gomera across the sea in sunshine mostly.
When all is said and done and we can stand seeing the sunset over the 3 islands at different times of the year, nothing beats that.

trying to thank you Marbs funny that mate ...

I can see from my garden, La Gomera and beyond 75 miles away Tenerife, and on a very clear day the peaks of Gran Canaria. Somewhat different to the view I once had of Emley Moor and the mighty T.V. tower.
