Moving back to Tenerife

Hi, a very good friend of mine is hoping to move back out to Tenerife in September, she lived here before for about 9 years but had to return to England about 8 years ago. Can anyone please tell me how she would go about getting her NIE again or renewing her old one (if thats posible after 8 years away) ... Thanks

If it is a green certificate, with the NIE number thereon, then it lasts for life and at the moment does not need renewing.

I lost mine some 12 years ago, no way of remembering what it was, just that I had one.
