I am trying to get flights for the last full week in September. The prices for 4 adults is £1400-£1500! Why is that week so dear? Other weeks, which I can't do, are significantly cheaper.

I wish I knew. I can only assume that people who can, are holding off till after the school holidays and they want to capitalise on that.

I've just booked for early september and it's the most I've ever paid for flights. £700 for two of us. And that's with a bit of jiggling about, leave from Liverpool with Ryanair and return to Manchester with Easyjet. Not so bad for us in Warrington as we're slap bang in the middle of the two airports but not as easy if you're on one side or the other.....£700.!!...I've not got over it yet...lol.

We're on the other side of Manchester airport to Liverpool but not near enough to East Midlands.

I,ve been looking at flights for Sept/Oct. over the last 2 months. One journey seems to be reasonable (not cheap like) but the other way is always Very expensive to what used to be quiet times for flights......thats L,Pool and /or Manc. ??

We've paid about £320 each for flights on 17th Sept, returning 26th Sept from Gatwick - booked at the beginning of this month.

Wow, why are the flights so expensive? Fuel is cheaper now than it was five years ago, so it can't be that. Must be supply and demand because of the terrorist threat. What else can it be.

I reckon the airlines know that September/October is the time all the Swallows start to flee their respective abodes and head South and being what/who they are they will pay the prices advertised.

I have just checked on Kayak for flights and it seems the world is mad. Ryan Air direct is £335. Ryan Air via an overnight in Milan is £215. Ripping off of the British public on a popular route? Surely not.

Is it not just called supply and demand ?

Maybe September sold well when the flights were first released? Now they can afford to hike up the price for anyone desperate to go at that particular time. And there will be those people. Me included..lol

the only way to get good Tenerife price flights now, seems to be to book as early as you can, as in the final three months its expensive. The Tunisian impact, i dont know but all of my friends, family and aquaintances are all saying how expensive flights are.

I always book our flights as soon as they are released. Not long booked March.
