Could someone tell me the healthcare situation in Tenerife please.

I have heard a few horror stories about ex-pats struggling with hospital care because they did not have good health cover. I've really interested in your thoughts about the process. We are planning on moving to Tenerife in 2017, when my youngest is off to Uni. We won't need to work as will have a manager running our business, so returning to the UK during the summer months. However we heard of someone who had a heart attack and ended up having to go home for treatment because they didn't have a comprehensive cover.

Thanks in advance

There are a few private medical companies that I know of, Mapfre , Sanitas and DKV. They all do basic and other policies. I think the more you pay the better cover you get.

if you have the wherewithal to not need dosh as you have a business being run by a manager then you ought to be able to get private health insurance cover through the business for the UK & Spain.

However if that is not possible there are many schemes available here at reasonable cost. If you are interested please PM me & I will let you have details of the ones I know.
