NIE Number and Letting

Is it possible to do a long term let and then apply for an NIE number in tenerife. We are planning a move next year but with the 3 month certificate issue I had seen posted is it better to way before applying.

hi Jason you have lost me with the 3 month certificate, no need for a nie number to rent a property , your passport is your identification

You can rent an apartment without a NIE, since you don´t have any legal obligations regardind the lease. But you can´t stay here legally for more than 3 months at once without a greed NIE, which is the permanent one.

So its something that could be done upon arrival to allow connection of phone services etc.

I run a business here in the uk that would need to be sorted before departure and an online business I intend to keep going.
