There is a huge fire in PIRS, been burning all afternoon. I understand its the electrodomestic unit. Fire engines are standing by but dont appear to be able to do anything.

Short history of PIRS

Until just over 20 years ago, poor waste management in Tenerife caused serious environmental problems in our country.

Before 1984 each municipality available one or more uncontrolled dumps in ravines, roads or clearings. These amounted to more than 200 landfills throughout the island. There is waste buried or burned, polluting soils, aquifers, ocean and atmosphere.
